What is the difference between Machine Translation and Human translation?

Machine translation is done entirely by a computer or a machine. There is no human intervention in the process. The computer uses statistics and rules of grammar to complete a translation.  Machine translation typically generates output or translation that contains errors.  Machine tranlsation is not meant for use with client facing documents or documents that might pose a risk of injury. ArgoMT is purely a machine translation process and you should certainly understand the risks involved with using Machine Translation before agreeing to use the service.

Human translation is a highly labor intensive process where at least two human linguists are used, a lead translator and an independent editor. The linguists used on a given project are typically subject matter experts relative to the source content. This type of translation is very accurate an can be used in any situation. This type of service is offered by Argo Translation.

How much does the service cost?

Translation costs $.03 per word.

What if I don’t like the results of my machine translation?

If you review your completed translated project files and you are not happy with the results,  you will have the option to submit a quotation request for human translation. The dollar amount you spent on your machine translation will be credited toward a completely new human translation.

Are my files secure?

Yes, your files are very secure. We use SAS 70 type II certified files storage. File transfers use 256bit SSL encryption.

What is this tool useful for?

We suggest using this product for zero-risk to low-risk documents.  This tool is not intended for important documents, documents where human life is at risk or for that matter where you have any type of risk at all! We can tell you that the output will have errors.

What types of projects should I NOT use this service for?

We recommend that this service is not used for any high-risk documents as well as highly technical or confidential documents. We also recommend fully reading our terms of use before submitting your document.

What formats can I upload my files in?

We currently accept Word, Powerpoint, Excel files, text (txt) and rich text format (rtf) files.

What if I have quick turnaround deadlines? How fast does this work?

The translation is completed anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes from the time you submit your project.

Do you have a minimum fee?

There are no minimum fees for machine translation
