Here is a quick post on how to use the formatting tools in CrossWeb. Target text should carry the same formatting as the source text.
If you do not apply the proper formatting it will create many issues during DTP and will result in incorrect entries in the TM. Proper formatting is an important step in the translation/proofreading tasks so below you will see some examples of how to use the formatting tools in CrossWeb correctly.
There are many ways to ensure the same formatting on the source is applied to the target text. One easy way is to use the drop down formatting list to apply formats.
Just highlight your target text then use the drop down list to select the proper formatting. In the above example you will see that InVitro is in italics so you would choose the italic option in the formatting bar for that text in the target. You can also use the formatting icons in the toolbar for bolding, italics and underlining as well. In the screen cap below we’ve used the Bold button to apply bolding to the target segment. This works just like it would in MS Word.
Also notice that this is the proper way to select super and sub scripts. Just highlight the text and click on the proper formatting icon.
In the next example you will see that there is no bullet in the fuzzy match. You must place a bullet in the target text so the best way to handle is to copy the source segment down. Then, highlight the English text and apply the fuzzy match by double clicking on the match as seen in the screen shots below
